My husband has some work to do in Atlanta and South Carolina, so I’m heading off with him tomorrow. It will be one of our first ‘empty nest’ trips-I’m going with him because I can! No sports, school, or babysitting to worry about. Things have been really hectic here, and so I’m very much looking forward to taking my computer and writing when he’s working. When we’re not doing our jobs, we’re going to be exploring the cities, seeing some old friends, and hopefully-sleeping late!
I have a feeling that I’ll be smiling a lot, too. I’m looking forward to getting away from the house for a few days…and I’m still a little bit dazed that I’m a finalist in the American Christian Fiction Writers Association Carol Awards. It’s a big honor, and it’s for the Families of Honor novel The Protector.
I’m in very good company. One of my tour buddies, Vannetta Chapman, is also up for the Carol, as is the phenomenal Suzanne Woods Fisher. As a matter of fact, I’m considering printing out the list of finalists…I think that list almost guarantees some excellent reading! Here is the link to ACFW. Once you get on the site, you’ll see the link to the Carol Nominees, and past winners. www.acfw.com

Enjoy you trip Shelly! Any of your books deserve an award but the protector and the survivor are two of my favorite books you’ve written so far. Keep up the great work.
