I’m happy to say that I turned in The Caretaker last Thursday, just in time to get ready for my brother’s visit. Yesterday after he flew back to Arizona, I anxiously got back to work. I’ve now officially started The Protector! I have to admit that I was ready to get back to my computer. I’m one of those writers who actually really enjoys writing. If I’m not making up a story, I get a little antsy.

Tomorrow (June 10)  will be kind of a fun day for me. I’ll be a guest on Suzanne Woods Fisher’s radio show, Amish Wisdom.  At 4 pm (Central) I’ll be visiting with Suzanne about Spring’s Renewal, and my visits to Sugarcreek.  Here’s the link to hear about it: http: toginet.com/shows/AmishWisdom.

Am I nervous? You bet!

I’ll write again soon and let y’all know how it goes…

My Mother, who is 95 years old, simply devours all Amish books. I enjoy them also. I don’t have to worry about foul language or uncomfortable scenes. I have met several Amish in KY. and I much admire their way of living. We should be more like them. Keep up the good work.

Anna Lynn,

Thank you so much for writing. I do wish sometimes that things would slow down at bit. Writing about the Amish really gives me peace.

Do you live near Louisville? I have a heroine in GRACE who is from a small Amish settlement south of Louisville.

I just bought the sugarcreek series and my, what a wonderful author you are! I started reading Amish novels because I was sick and tired of “The Best Sellers” having so much foul language, sex and violence. I really don’t think using foul language makes one an author. Your stories gave true to life scenes to the reader and yes, I too, felt like I could SEE Sugarcreek and her folks!! Thanks for taking your guidance from the Holy Spirit to write. I will be a fan of your books from now on as I already can’t wait to finish Autumn’s Promise when it comes out!

Can’t wait until the Caregiver comes out. Could you give us a hint on what the book will be about?

shelley says:

Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for your note. I’m so glad you found the sugarcreek series to be a nice change of pace. I truly really love visiting Sugarcreek, I can’t help but try to make it as welcoming as possible!

Thanks so much for giving my books a try.

Hi Pam,

Thanks for asking about The Caregiver and the new series! This series will take place in a new location, in Geauga County. The Caregiver is about an Amish woman named Lucy who travels from Indiana to Jacob’s Crossing (a made-up town) to help take care of her cousin Mattie. Mattie is getting chemo treatments for breast cancer. Lucy meets the hero, Calvin Weaver, on her journey. The train they are on breaks down…and the story goes on from there.
I hope everyone will enjoy it!
