SpringsRenewalThings have been really busy over at my editor’s office in San Francisco! Just yesterday, they put the finishing touches on the cover for Spring’s Renewal, Book 2 in the Seasons of Sugarcreek series. I think the cover is beautiful. This one was a little challenging because my heroine Clara is scarred, so the art department had to keep moving her around on the cover to get the far right side of her face hidden!

Almost immediately after they finalized the ‘Spring’ cover, they asked for suggestions for the GRACE cover. GRACE is a return to the Sisters of the Heart series, and the art department wants to depict the outside of the Brenneman Bed and Breakfast. I ended up pulling out HIDDEN and going to the scene where Rob first sees the inn to get all the details. That was kind of fun, I hadn’t looked at HIDDEN in a few months.

This weekend I’ll be giving an author talk to the women’s ministry group at my church, and then switching gears and becoming Lesley’s Mom. My daughter has a two day swim meet and is slated to be in eight events. My husband and I will be taking photos and making McDonald’s runs, I bet. She really loves Big Macs. Oh, to be in high school and burning off all those calories…

I hope all of you have a nice weekend, too.

I love the cover, Shelley! So pretty–the flowers are just gorgeous. As someone who’s had the privilege to read this book already, I have to say it’s a favorite of mine. Clara is an amazing character.

Shelley says:

Thank you, Heather. : ) Since I emailed you something like 10 chapters in five days to edit, I think you deserve a lot of the credit for the book! What would we do without each other?

I’m looking forward to seeing the cover of Autumn’s Promise. My husband thinks we should put all three in a frame together.

I think Clara sounds like someone all of us can relate to – that’s not always true of a lot of characters in books we read. I mean, everyone has something that holds them back. Something about themselves they’re uncomfortable – though not always so visible. Don’t they? HAHA! Or is that just me???

I agree – I like the covers too, Shelley – and for some reason I was thinking the other morning how much I like all the titles. Winter’s Awakening – Spring’s Renewal – Autumn’s Promise. What made you think of seasons? Anything in particular?

Shelley says:

Thanks for stopping by Cathy. I think you’re right about everyone having something that holds them back. I hope you’re right about Clara being someone a person can relate to.

To tell you the truth, I’m not quite sure how I came up with those titles. It was really important to me to have a series set during one year~which led to the seasons. Somehow ‘awakening’ ‘renewal’ and ‘promise’ just seemed to fit.

I’m so looking forward to Beads of Hope in March! Can’t wait to read it!
