Well I’m still waiting to receive my copy of Spring’s Renewal in the mail so, from Winter’s Awakening…my favourite character is Gretta. She patiently and quietly prayed and waited for Joshua to get his act together without tantrums or complaints. Great character!

Lynne Young says:

My favorite character is “Gretta”. She went through a lot of turmoil but held fast to her upbringing and listened to God speaking to her heart.

Alice Dillon says:

Hi Shelly, my favorite character is Clara from the Spring’s Renewal book. She really proves that what’s on the inside is what really matters. Beautiful character, loved her story!

Dawn says:

I can’t say that I’ve found a favorite character. I really found myself gravitating toward Lily. Her character has experienced a full range of issues and emotions.

Pam Will says:

I must say my favorite character is Lilly Allen. She has been through a lot with losing her baby, but she is still strong. So I can’t wait to see how she handles falling in love with a amish man and what in store for her future.

Marge Hicks says:

I think my favorite is Lilly. However, it’s hard to pick just one. I like all of them and you learn so much from each one.

Wenda Hunt says:

When I received my copy of Spring’s Renewal and could not put it down. I loved the character Clara. With her disability, she found peace in some ways, even though she had other thoughts. Things really get exciting when Ruby comes for a visit. Even when she thought the sugery was what she wanted most, she learns the lesson that beauty is only skin deep. Enjoy!!!

It is so hard to choose, but I would have to say Clara. She has touched my heart in so many ways. She has proven that beauty is only skin deep, and what matters most is whats on the inside not on the outside. This is something I have told my daughter since her teen years. Can’t wait for the rest of the books to come out.

Keri Sherman says:

Hello Shelley! It is very difficult to pick one character but I’ll have to say my favorite is Clara. It was different, in a good way, to read about a woman who had an obvious flaw on her face (the first thing people look at) but with God’s help, made the best of her situation. Clara did not complain and was always thankful and kind. She truly inspired me to take a closer look at my life and to thank the Lord for each beautiful blessing He has given me.

Jill Seymore says:

I just finished reading Spring’s Renewal and I can’t wait to read Autumn’s Promise. My favorite character so far in this series is Clara. Being that I am a teacher myself, I can relate to Clara’s love of her students and how she wants them to look past outward appearances. I have often struggled with what others think of me and Clara’s courage and confidence shows me that I also need to be thankful for what I have.

Cindi Laughlin says:

My favorite character in the series so far would have to be a tie between Clara and Lilly. It is hard to choose just one. I love the series and don’t want it to end! I had always wanted to be a teacher, but it just never came to be, and I love the way Clara cares for her students.

Katie says:

I really like Tim and how he just sees through to Clara’s inner beauty.

Shannon says:

Sorry Shelley,
I can not pick just one. I love clara and Lilly,
They both have had struggles and issues that i can relate to. Actually i can relate to alot of your storys characters.

Jeanne Wadsworth says:

Shelley,
I just recieved Spring’s renewal from the library and love the character Clara. She shows that beauty isn’t just what is on the outside that counts, but more importantly what is on a persons’s inside. Plus I love how Tim see’s that in Clara.

Jeanette says:

Hi Shelley
I always identify with the heroine in a book so it is difficult to pick just one favorite. I really like Lilly, she has had to deal with so much. I also like Gretta.
And Clara has had to deal with so much pain and disappointment and is still such a caring, compassionate, and forgiving person. I’m glad her mother was finally able to face her fears and become a happier person.

tish says:

I love clara. Your books are so soothing and I love to relax reading them. You have a wonderful style of writing. I always feel that Im part of the book as I read them.

doss russell says:

Just rereading Book one of Sugarcreek Series – Now I am so glad to have been to Lancaster Co. in PA so many times – Makes me feel good! Except I am not happy with the “Commericialism” I see there. How terible that there sre some who have to capitalize onn such great country side and people. But I still enjoy all the food that is offered!!!!

Jessica VM says:

I love Lillian Rose Allen, aka Lilly Allen. Oh, how she has so many things to deal with-heart-wrenching struggles, big losses and more…. Lilly deals with it all, slowly, but very carefully. A good example of a caring friend, teacher, and relative, is Clara. Though she has to deal with her scars and everything.. she still tends to be a compassionate and loving friend. Clara has laid out a good example for US to follow. My warmest wishes to you,
Jessica
