Years ago (over 20 years ago!!), when I moved out to Colorado for college, I began subscribing to USA Today. I desperately missed my hometown of Houston, Texas, and I figured that USA Today could at least give me a little bit of ‘Texas’ news each day.
I got hooked.
Over the years, wherever we’ve lived, we’ve gotten this paper. Sometimes we lived so far out in the country that the post office had to deliver the paper. Other times, like now, we’ve gotten the USA Today as our morning paper, tossed on the driveway.
I’m sharing that explanation so that y’all might understand just how excited I was to open today’s paper…and see the cover of Autumn’s Promise on the front of the Life section! In the article, they mention the book, and even have my photo, right there with other authors, including Beverly Lewis, Wanda Brunstetter, and Cindy Woodsmall.
Well, I’m sure you can imagine what happened next…I started crying, the wiener dog started barking, and my husband came running… <g>
All in all, it was a pretty great way to start a Monday!

Ohhhh!!! That’s so awesome, Shelley!!!! Isn’t it amazing when things happen like that? One of the current members of a Gospel group called the Gaither Vocal Band was a huge fan himself, when he was a kid and dreamed of singing onstage with the Gaither Homecoming Friends. He does now, and he’s PHENOMENAL. I love hearing stories of people’s dreams coming true like that relating to something they idolized or looked up to in the past.
