To Librarians…or to people who visit the library

Posted Nov 10 2010, 6:23 am

This afternoon, I’m off to Ashland Public Library in Ashland, OH, all because of the very sweet invitation of Kristie, the librarian there. She asked me to do a book talk months ago. In March, I’ll be speaking at the Cuyahoga Library near Cleveland. This was all arranged because the librarians there contacted my publisher, Harper Collins.

I happen to love to visit libraries. Growing up in Houston, I vividly remember when our branch library was built. In Mesa, AZ, I was at the library almost every Saturday. I was a first year teacher with no extra money for books in my budget. Oh, I was so grateful for their mystery section!

Now, at least once a week, I hear from a reader who first found one of my books because a librarian recommended them. Obviously, I’m a fan of public libraries. : )

So, if you are a librarian and you think there might be interest in your community, please let me know. Or, if you just happen to have found my books at your local library and think I might be a good visitor, talk to your librarian to see if we can work something out. I’d love to see you!

For now, I guess I better go get things organized. I’m giving a basket of Amish goodies away tonight…

with all my best,  Shelley

    Dear Shelley,
Thank you so much for your talk at Ashland Public library tonight! You are the third in a series of authors who are speaking here this month and I plan to hear them all. Your insights and comments were invaluable as well as your answers to my many questions. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
